PTE Academic Exam Format

PTE Academic is a computer-based academic English language test which is designed to assess non-native English speakers wanting to study abroad.

It tests your reading, writing, listening, speaking skills.

These tests are often clubbed together such as listening-reading or reading-speaking.

The whole test is of 3 hours done in a single session, and is taken sitting at a computer in a secured test environment. The test is then recorded and sent for marking.

The results are automated so they usually take 5 days to arrive.

The PTE Academic exam is conducted by Pearson Language Tests and endorsed by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF of CEFR)

Accreditation

The PTE Academic score is accepted by 6,000 academic institutes across the globe including Yale and London Business school.

Eligibility

Test takers should possess a valid passport as proof of identity for applying and appearing in PTE exam.

Students can apply for PTE exam from the age of 16. Although minor applicants, under the age of 18 does require a parental consent letter to take the test.

The PTE Academic exam is held in more than 200 locations worldwide and over 360 days in a year which makes it easily accessible and advantageous over PTE General exam

Score validity

The PTE Academic exam result is valid only for two years from the date of issue of PTE Academic result.

PTE Academic results are out within 5 business days and the score range of PTE exam is on a scale of 10-90.

The PTE Academic exam result contains overall scores of the Speaking section, Listening section, Reading section, Writing section, Grammar, Spelling, Oral Fluency, Vocabulary and Written discourse scores.
