PTE Exam Format
PTE stands for Pearson Test of English which is basically a highly academic multi-level exam like other major English language tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, etc. It was originated in 2009, designed by the Pearson PLC group to assess and validate the English usage of non-native English speakers before pursuing a career abroad. The exam scores of PTE is accepted by:
- Australian Government and UK Border agency for Visa applications
- Universities of New Zealand, UK, Australia, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland for enrollment
- Prestigious Universities like Harvard, London Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business and Yale
- Over 6000 official organizations

Eligibility criteria
Test takers should possess a valid passport as proof of identity for applying and appearing in PTE exam.
Students can apply for PTE exam from the age of 16. Although minor applicants, under the age of 18 does require a parental consent letter to take the test.
Time duration of PTE exam
The total time duration of PTE exam is 3 hours with no breaks in between.
Total number of type of questions in PTE exam is 20.
The exam is assessed via computer and score scale is between 10 to 90.
PTE Exam Format
PTE exam comprises of four sections- Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, which assesses respective English skills.
PART 1: SPEAKING & WRITING |
(77 – 93 minutes) |
The Speaking module of PTE exam also assesses your speaking, listening, and writing skills. Your speaking skills will be analysed via questions that will require you to repeat the sentences spoken in an audio clip, respond to the questions and summarize the passages on given academic topics. Following tasks are given in the Speaking and Writing test module:

PART 2: READING |
(32 – 41 minutes) |
This section tests your reading skills with a set of different questions. The reading segment of the Pearson Test of English evaluates your understanding of written information in the English language. It is advised to read the questions carefully and answer accordingly. Following tasks are given in the Reading module:

PART 3: LISTENING |
(45 – 57 minutes) |
The Listening test is the final section and is divided into various small parts. It assesses your ability to understand spoken English. The questions included in this section are based on 60 – 90 seconds long audio or video clips which are played only once. So, it is mandatory that you listen to the clips very carefully and make notes. You will get 10 minutes to write your response in 50-70 words. Following tasks are given in the Listening module of PTE exam:
