IELTS Listening

For IELTS Academic and IELTS General modules, IELTS Listening test is similar. You will be given 10 minutes for transferring your answers to the answer sheet however the total time duration of the test is 30 minutes. The IELTS Listening test consists of four Parts:

Part 01

A conversation between two people is set

Question Sort Purpose of Assessment

Multiple Choice Questions

Out of the provided 3 choices, required candidates are required to choose one correct answer. About the number of chosen answers, you must ready carefully what has been asked in the questions as you can be given a longer list of options with more than one answer.

  • Multiple Choice Questions are mentioned for testing high level skills. It tests thorough understanding of particular points or main points of the test recording. 

Matching

To a set of options on the question paper, candidates are required to match a list of items from the listening text. The set of options can have variable criteria

Matching questions test whether a test taker know the data provided in a conversation on regular basis context. E.g. different types of colleges. In order to recognize connections between points and understand conversation between two people in the recording, it also assess your capability.

Labeling of Map, Plan, Diagram

For the completion of labels on a plan, for instance of a bulding, map, of an area or diagram of an equipment, test takers are required to choose answers from a list on the question paper.

Sentence Completion

You will be provided a set of sentences that summarise major data from the recording. In every sentence, you will be asked to fill in the gap.

Form, note, table, flow-chart, summary completion

In an outline part or all the listening text, you will be required to fill in the gaps. The outline will focus on the major facts in the text. It may be a form, a set of notes, a table or a flow chart. According to the said word limit stated in the instructions, test takers might have to select their answers from a list on the question paper recognize the missing words from the missing words from the recording.
